I’ve been in love with NYC for as long as I can remember. When I was in Jr. High, I signed up for New York apartment listing emails and would check out all of the available apartments in the city (I also would then stress about how I would afford rent- I’m not kidding when I say I was an anxious and stressed out kid!). Tomorrow morning, I’m leaving for a week long trip to New York, and I am so excited. I have actually been before- I schedule a 12 hour lay over when I flew home from Colombia a couple of years ago, and in the short time I was there (11pm-11am), I knew that NYC was everything I’d imagined it would be and more.
I started planning a trip for May back in January when I got my last apartment. It was a sublet that ran from Feb 1st to the end of April, so I figured that May would be the perfect time to go away. Initially, I was going to plan a month long trip and then come back to Halifax in June and get a new apartment, but plans changed, and I decided to get an apartment for May 1st and just do a shorter trip.
I’m just getting pretty stir crazy in Halifax, and I really need to get away for a bit! I think New York is going to be such a nice refresher.
Even before I booked the trip to New York, I booked a ticket to an event in Philadelphia. Initially I was going to go to Toronto to visit friends and then get a bus down to Philly for the event on May 9th, but then I changed my mind and made it a New York trip.
In Philly- omg I’m excited- I’m going to a live Abraham Hicks event. You may have heard me talk about Abraham on Insta and Facebook, but they are a Higher Consioucness that is channelled by a woman named Esther Hicks. So Esther is kind of like a medium, but instead of channeling people who have died, she channels a High Consciousness. Their messages are amazing, and I can’t wait to be hearing them live.
I’m staying with a friend while I’m in NYC (Chelsea, you’re awesome!), and I have so many fun things planned! Almost none of them are your typical touristy things (though I do want to spend a day in Central Park). There are a bunch of yoga studios and smoothie bars I want to check out, some meditation classes, and markets. Most of all, I just want to walk around and enjoy that amazing amazing city.
I’m going to take a week away from blogging while I’m there. I’d actually planned on blogging through out the trip, but I decided to make this a full on vacation, so I’ll save the writing until I get back. I will be documenting my trip on my Instagram accounts though! On @myspiritualroadtrip I’ll be sharing the majority of my trip and on @theultimatesmoothieebook I’ll be sharing all of the delicious NYC smoothies and acai bowls that I try
Let me know if you have any NYC or Philly recommendations! I’d love that
Have an awesome week, and I’ll talk to you soon
