This post is part of a mini-series I did on detoxing, in which I shared my favourite way to detox plus a days worth of recipes. All recipes some courtesy of Michelle MacLean. You can also check out the breakfast, lunch, and dinner recipes.
I’m actually going two share two smoothie recipes because I just finished Banana Island, and I think a banana smoothie would be an excellent compliment to a detox!
Let’s start with Michelle’s
Michelle’s Berry-licious Smoothie
Makes 2 Large Glasses
- 1½ cups ripe/frozen strawberries
- 1½ cups frozen raspberries
- 1½ cups frozen blueberries
- 1½ cups spinach
- 1 stalk celery
- 1½ cups water
Blend until smooth and enjoy!
As I mentioned in my post about my favourite way to detox, I’m eschewing the idea that it’s better to consume low GI fruit (due to their low sugar content) and have been eating bananas and high GI fruit galore lately! They give me so much energy, positivity, and more muscle definition.
Heaven, i.e. Chocolate Banana Smoothie Recipe
5 frozen bananas (the frozen part is key)
1 tbsp raw cacao powder
Blend it up! Drink it and love life.
p.s. if you’re not used to eating a lot of fruit, I’d start with less bananas. My friend (I won’t mention names, but you know who you are :p) got major stomach cramps from eating too many before his body was ready. I on the other hand, had no issues, but just start slow and work your way up to avoid potential discomfort.
