This is my last post before I head off for the 10 day silent retreat! I was pretty nervous about it, but now I am really excited and can’t wait to get there (famous last words?). We’re leaving in a few hours
Alright, so here is a recap of a day in Montreal!
9 am: Good morning! This is the most comfortable bed ever- not easy to get out of! But I never sleep in this late, so I am ready to start my day!
10am: Finishing up a yoga session! I’ve been using Gaiam TV for a few years now and love it!!
Try Gaiam TV for 99¢
11am: Trying to decide what to wear (I went with the obvious choice- leopard leggings).
Noon: Walking through my aunt’s neighbourhood, The Plateau. I love it here, so pretty!
1pm: We stopped for coffee at Caffe Art Java on Mont Royal. I love this street, it’s my favourite in Montreal.
2pm: Next stop was the Fabergé exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. I’m not really a museum fan and was kind of trying to get out of this, but my Aunt said “We’re going. As your Aunt, it’s my responsibility to make sure you get some culture.” Lol, so off we went.
Museums might not be my thing, but I have to say, the place was packed! Although, sometimes when I’m at a museum I want to say “ok show of hands, who is actually enjoying themselves?” But anyways, to each his own.
3pm: In and out of the museum in under an hour- excellent! Now off to Holt Renfrew in search of wool leg warmers.
4pm: Heading home, empty handed :/ My leg warmer search will continue in Toronto.
5pm: I completely forgot to take a picture at 5! But, I would hate to deny for a photo, so here we are hanging out on a giant Adirondack :p
6pm: Hanging out at my Aunt’s place (drinking lemon water)
7pm: Arriving home from grocery shopping and our Adirondack photo shoot
8pm: Making dinner. Yeah, my vegetarian days seem like a distant memory.
9pm: I’ve been really committed to staying sugar free lately, but a mixture of fear, excitement, and overwhelm surrounding our upcoming silent retreat led me straight to chocolate! In case you’re wondering what the hell is in my tea mug, it’s chamomile flowers. My attempt to counteract the caffeine in the chocolate.
10 pm: I’d decided against doing a lot of research on the silent retreat we are attending because I wanted to go in with an open mind and not be swayed by other people’s experiences. But at the last moment, I decided to check out this article. I’m so glad I did! I found it reassuring and exciting, and it really got me psyched to get started!!
11pm: At this point I’m wired- a combo of sleeping in this morning + too much chocolate + excitement for the retreat + staring at a computer screen for too long! I’m reading an awesome e-book by Dr. Shelly Persad, but it’s not exactly a relaxing read, so that can’t be helping. As you can see, my Aunt is still up too.
12am: Finally ready to attempt to fall asleep, but not before finding the cutest video ever on youtube!! Take a look- your heart will just melt.
Okay, have an awesome 10 days, and keep an eye out for my Vipassana recap
